This summer continuing to invite friends as special guests to share their interpretations of Swimming. Jeff aka Dunaway is a Hamilton-based cultural worker and DJ raised in Hong Kong. He is the founder of Squat, a local collective that curates workshops, radio programming, and DIY dance events. In this "Theory of Water" special, Dunaway draws inspiration from Leanne Simpson's book and how she uses water (nibi) and Nishnaabeg stories to challenge colonial capitalism and imagine a liberated future. The show begins with waves arriving at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park, and explores how artists across different waters have taken inspiration from waves to create music. Jeff and I connected over our shared love of music, amongst other things, during my time in Canada :) so Im excited to have him on the show <3
